When working with electronics you should always take safety precautions.

You should also be careful to not only not harm yourself, but also the device. For example when opening the PC case do it with care, don't force it out unless it's really stuck. Or else you may do it with too much force and tilt it over which may loosen up some components or even damage it.

The same goes with the power, unplug the PC before doing anything technical. Even if it's off, you may still be at risk..it's better safe than sorry.

I always think about safety too.

Electronics apparently seem harmless, especially the small ones. But we have to keep in mind that an overflow of electricity along with other things can turn even our favorite mp3 player into a hazard.

I always unplug the device before opening it up or attempting to tamper with it.

You know what they say: Safety first.

This is so true. In today's world numerous things can wrong. You should always think about safety and help prevent injuries and such. You should also neutralize your hands of any electric waves by touching metal.

Safety is definitely important. Luckily I've never had serious any problems with any electric discharge. I did get a minor "shock" once and since then I've been more careful.

With those tips you mentioned, as well as proper equipment, you should be fine.
